Call for Egyptian-Hungarian research projects 2017

The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology announces the opening of proposals for Egyptian-Hungarian research projects

to be financed through the scientific cooperation protocol between the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The proposals for projects in all fields of science should be available to all researchers from research centers and institutes and the Egyptian public and private universities. The projects will be submitted until 29-9-2017. The researchers are wishing to participate in the program registration should be filling forms through the following link:

Eligibility

- The applicant must be Egyptian.

- Holds a position in a university or research centers or institutes

- No one who has effective projects will be accepted and is already being sponsored by the academy

This is an open invitation to submit joint research projects by researchers from both countries, with the aim of encouraging scientific and technological cooperation between Egypt and Hungary. The proposed research should be based on collaborative activities between research groups in both countries and contribute a great added value to these activities. 

Training course about "The Fluid NMR and its Applications"

The Nuclear Resonance Magnetic Resonance Unit (NMRU) announces a training course about "The Fluid NMR and its applications"

on 4 to 6 July 2017 under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed El-Kenawy - President of the University and Prof. Ashraf Mohammed Swailam - Vice President for post graduates and researches and Mohammed Mahmoud Abu Al-Zahab - Director of the Unit and Course Rapporteur.

This course aims to identify the NMR device - the theoretical basis - the idea of its work and to identify the applications of nuclear magnetic resonance of the unilateral, bilateral and triangular and identify the various elements and isotopes that can be analyzed using the device. Also, the training course will be allowed to train on prepare the different samples - how to interpret the results - the theoretical calculations of the effective groups in the chemical compounds and their comparison with the actual results - the attempt of the vacuum drawing of the analyzed vehicles - Interpretation of the results and the identification of the structural structure of the analyzed vehicles and how to use the device to identify the purity of the chemicals.

The subscription fee is LE 1250 per participant and 20% is deducted for faculty members and their assistants who belong to Mansoura University. These fees are inclusive of publications only and not including accommodation.

DIES-Training Course: Management of Internationalization 2017/2018

Leibniz Universität Hannover, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK)

are jointly organising the DIES-Training Course "Management of Internationalization".

The key objective of the training course is to qualify university staff (either International Office staff or higher education managers responsible for coordinating international activities) from selected countries of Africa, Latin America, and Asia, to manage processes and tasks of internationalisation in the area of higher education. The programme will enable the participants to build up improved and more effective structures of internationalisation at their home universities.

The course focusses on four thematic modules. Each unit offers a balance between conceptual learning and practice oriented training, management skills as well as soft skills.

Module 1: Internationalisation: Concepts, Systems and Actors
Module 2: Competences and Key Tasks of an International Office (IO)
Module 3: Soft Skills
Module 4: Management Skills
Participants’ Profile

At least 2 years of experience in the area of Higher Education Management: either as
international office staff or higher education managers responsible for coordinating
international activities.
Not older than 50 years of age.
Active and excellent English language skills (speaking and writing) are indispensable.
Commitment to attend all workshops and to develop an individual PAP, commit to a
project report at least every 2 months.
Minimum technical equipment that guarantees the regular contact during the distance
phases: internet connection and, if possible IT support for video conferences.

PhD Scholarships from Japan

As part of the Egyptian-Japanese initiative for education, the Cultural Affairs and Missions announces the scholarships for obtaining the PhD degree, joint supervision system and post-doctoral scientific missions from Japan. Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program

The Fulbright Commission in Egypt is pleased to announce the annual competition for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program. This one-year Fellowship program is offered to young and mid-career professionals who have a proven track record of leadership, a public service commitment, and the capacity to benefit from a program of independent non-degree study at a leading U.S. university, as well as a wide variety of professional development activities, including conducting independent projects, participating in an internship or a professional affiliation, meetings and consultations with U.S. faculty or experts, field trips, and special seminars. The Humphrey Program was initiated in 1978 to honor the memory and accomplishments of the late Senator and Vice President, Hubert H. Humphrey.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

· Egyptian citizenship; holders of U.S. green cards and/or passports are ineligible
· Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field of study.
· Five years of full-time professional experience. Applicants should be at a point in their careers to fully benefit from this professional development program. Demonstrated leadership qualities and a record of public service.

· Demonstrated English language ability with a minimum valid Local TOEFL score of 450 is required from AMIDEAST or any of the ETS approved centers (see below list of approved testing centers), or Computer-Based (CBT) score of 133, or Internet-based (IBT) score of 45 or IELTS score of 5. (Important note: Successful candidates whose TOEFL score is less than 525, or Computer-Based (CBT) score less than 195, or Internet-based (IBT) score less than 71 or IELTS score less than 6, will be required to attend 3 - 6 months of Long-Term English Language training in the U.S. prior to the start date of their Humphrey fellowships, if selected for this grant.)
· Limited prior experience in the U.S. (individuals who have resided in the U.S. for more than six months since August 2013 are not eligible to apply).

· Applicants must reside in Egypt starting the application process until the travel date (in case of selection).
· Qualified women are encouraged to apply.
