Fulbright Junior Faculty Development

The Fulbright Junior Faculty Development Program is a ten-week program that will take place during the Summer of 2018.

The program is open to Egyptian junior faculty members who are currently teaching at universities in Egypt (including both public and private universities, as well as other degree-granting institutions). Candidates should have a Master’s degree in their field of specialization with at least five years of university-level teaching experience, or a Ph.D. and no more than five years of university-level teaching experience after having received the PhD degree.

Information Session: October 17, October 31, November 7 and November 14 from 12:00 – 2:00 at the Fulbright Office (21 Amer Street, Messaha, Dokki, Giza)
Eligible Fields: (Applicants from Egypt can only apply in one of the following fields)
• Renewable Energy and Engineering (Solar, Wind, Hydro-electric, Biofuel, Geothermal): Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering as related specifically to Renewable Energy (does not include Petroleum or Nuclear energy/engineering fields).
• Public Health: Epidemiology, Nutritional Science, Health Care Administration, Family and Community Health, Occupational Health.
• TEFL/Linguistics: TEFL, TESOL, Linguistics (does not include literature, American literature, American studies)
Program Design: This Program will bring young faculty members from Egypt to U.S. institutions for faculty development, mentoring and cultural exchange activities, including:
• Introduction to new teaching and research methods.
• Observing classes and attending seminars.
• Developing linkages with American faculty through weekly mentoring sessions.
• On-going community engagement with university-identified host families, volunteers, or others in the broader local community.
• Participation in outreach activities, including visits to historical sites and attendance at cultural events.

Note: While introduction to new research methods in the scholars’ disciplines is one component of the Fulbright Junior Faculty Development Program, the program is not intended to provide a venue for individual research projects.

FameLab2017 Competition

The Scientific Research and Technology Academy and the British Council are announcing the FameLab2017 competition,

which will encourage all those interested in science to represent Egypt in the international competition at the Cheltenham Festival in the United Kingdom in June 2018.

If you are between the ages of 18 and 40 years, working and studying basic sciences or engineering and you have the skills of communication to provide a scientific subject is distinctive and exposed within 3 minutes without the use of any electronic presentation tools such as PowerPoint.

Workshop to introduce HORIZON 2020

As part of the activities of introducing HORIZON 2020 program at the university, a workshop will be held on November 7, 2017

at the Post-graduate hall at Medicine faculty at 11:00 am to introduce the activities of the program and the draft work program which was recently published. In addition, the activities of the National Bank of laboratories will be introduced and how to benefit from its services in improving their chances of obtaining grants from HORIZON 2020

Competition for the government employees

The government employees represent a significant number of the labor sector in Egypt. This is an important foundation

for the success of any government strategy to develop the government work and to encourage the innovation and entrepreneurship for the employees. The developing their daily performance is a formidable challenge as well as a strategic opportunity in the field of entrepreneurship. At the Cairo International Exhibition of Innovation 2016, the best government practices were presented, which participated in the competition "Government Creativity" under the auspices of the Ministry of Planning in cooperation with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology to promote the creative and managerial skills of the government employees. The awards are included the government innovation projects with a financial value of LE 35,000 to the Justice Team for creating "Simplifying Legal Proceedings", the Maak Team for creating a "Service Development System for Special Needs", and an ambitious team for creating "a paper machine".

If you are an innovator in your government organization, participate in the government innovation at the 4th Cairo International Exhibition of Innovation 2017, which will be held on November 22 and 23.
