Mansoura University participates in a workshop for the Erasmus+ project

Prof. Mohammed Reda Bassiouni, Professor of Pediatrics and Specialist in the Development of Higher Education, and Prof. Mohamed Salah,

Professor of Physics and Director of the International Relations Office at the University, participated in "University funding opportunities" workshop which organized by the National Erasmus+ Offices, in cooperation with the European Union Commission and the Committee of Experts on the Development of Higher Education. The participants exchanged local and international experiences to reach the best suitable for higher education in Egypt and to increase the sources of funding of the Egyptian University.

Prof. Yasser Al-Shayeb, Director of the National Erasmus+ Offices, said that the Office is always seeking to maximize the benefit of projects funded by the European Union to develop the higher education system in Egypt, especially the educational and academic programs that serve the Egyptian society.

Prof. Hani Madkour, Chairman of the Committee of Experts on the Development of Higher Education and the workshop's Rapporteur, said that it is important to always look for different sources of funding for the development of universities and higher education in Egypt.
 

Senior Energy Modeler/Researcher

The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology announces the need of the IASA for the position of researcher or

programmer in the field of energy, provided that the applicant has the following points:

Candidates should have a completed PhD (or equivalent) in economics, engineering or science (e.g., mathematics, physics) and at least five years' experience in integrated assessment modeling. To complement existing expertise in the ENE program, good knowledge of and hands-on experience with computable general equilibrium (CGE) models, ideally applied to assessing distributional impacts of climate and development policies is a requirement. The expectation is that the successful candidate will contribute to ongoing and future analysis of energy and climate objectives with broader sustainable development issues, including household energy use, energy access in developing countries, water use, or food security.

Experience with GAMS for quantitative modeling is beneficial, programming skills in R and/or Python is highly desirable as the ENE program is developing its modeling tools in these programming languages. In addition, spatial analysis expertise (e.g., using geographical information systems), in particular applied to climate change impacts of energy demand is highly welcome.

The selected candidate will interact with researchers of different nationalities, and is expected to contribute to and take over responsibility for research projects. In addition, developing proposals for new research projects is expected. IIASA offers an interdisciplinary workplace, with strong ties to a world-wide network of research institutions engaged in environmental and energy research and in particular on the analysis of climate change issues.

Call for the German-Egyptian Research Long Term Scholarship Program

The Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MHESR) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) announce the 10th Call for the German-Egyptian Research Long Term Scholarship Program (GERLS) for the academic year 2018/2019.

The GERLS Program is provided to candidates who desire to obtain or complete their PHD in one of the German Universities under the supervision of German professors.
The target group of this program will be comprised of Egyptian researchers who generally have been awarded M.A. /M.Sc. degrees in the past three years.

TWAS-ARO Roundtable Discussions on Responsible Science 28 - 29 November 2017

The Arab Regional Office of The World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries (TWAS-ARO) in collaboration with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Center for Special Studies and Programs is organizing "Roundtable Discussions on Responsible Science", on 28th-29th November 2017 at Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Alexandria, Egypt.
This event aims to bring together eminent scientists, policy makers along with young Arab scientists to discuss pressing topics related to responsible scientific research and how to develop mechanisms to ensure integrity in the research process. The Roundtable discussions will also present to Arab scientists the importance of conducting ethical research that follows the international standards through having in depth discussions and group work.
Our target is to maximize the benefits for young scientist by allowing them to be engaged in an interactive environment and addressing some serious concerns that affect the entire scientific community.
