Senior Energy Modeler/Researcher

The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology announces the need of the IASA for the position of researcher or

programmer in the field of energy, provided that the applicant has the following points:

Candidates should have a completed PhD (or equivalent) in economics, engineering or science (e.g., mathematics, physics) and at least five years' experience in integrated assessment modeling. To complement existing expertise in the ENE program, good knowledge of and hands-on experience with computable general equilibrium (CGE) models, ideally applied to assessing distributional impacts of climate and development policies is a requirement. The expectation is that the successful candidate will contribute to ongoing and future analysis of energy and climate objectives with broader sustainable development issues, including household energy use, energy access in developing countries, water use, or food security.

Experience with GAMS for quantitative modeling is beneficial, programming skills in R and/or Python is highly desirable as the ENE program is developing its modeling tools in these programming languages. In addition, spatial analysis expertise (e.g., using geographical information systems), in particular applied to climate change impacts of energy demand is highly welcome.

The selected candidate will interact with researchers of different nationalities, and is expected to contribute to and take over responsibility for research projects. In addition, developing proposals for new research projects is expected. IIASA offers an interdisciplinary workplace, with strong ties to a world-wide network of research institutions engaged in environmental and energy research and in particular on the analysis of climate change issues.

Deadline for receipt of applications: 29 October 2017
