Forum for Creative Initiatives and Cultural Policies 2023
The British Council invites you to join them online for the Creative Initiatives and Cultural Policies Forum in Cairo on 2 November 2023 organised in partnership with the Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre (PEC) .
The forum works to advance the creative economy in Africa by fostering a deeper understanding of current developments and opportunities within the cultural and creative industries. The event will showcase best practices from the UK, Europe, Africa, and beyond, with a focus on policymaking for the creative economy. Key factors under consideration include national policies, the role of intermediaries, initiatives by civil society organisations, and sustainable development.
Join the conversation online with international thinkers and influential stakeholders in the creative sector as we tackle pressing global challenges and shape the future of creative industries.
This event aims to bolster the global creative industries by offering independent evidence and policy recommendations. Led by Newcastle University and funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council as part of the UK Government’s Industrial Strategy, the PEC consists of a consortium of UK universities and an International Council composed of policy and creative economy experts worldwide, assembled by the British Council. This council provides valuable international perspectives and critical feedback on PEC activities.
The forum will bring together approximately 100-120 stakeholders from Africa, wider Europe, and the PEC International Council, representing Brazil, Canada, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Ethiopia, France, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, India, Indonesia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Switzerland, South Africa, Uganda, the UK, and the USA. Together, they will contribute to meaningful discussions and insights that drive the creative industries forward on a global scale.
