Department of Orthodontics
BDS program:
- The undergraduates study orthodontics in the fourth year of a five years program.
- The curriculum is designed to provide them with the basic knowledge and skills of orthodontics to prepare graduates able to recognize, diagnose, and manage/refer orthodontic cases as appropriate.
- The curriculum is based on lectures and laboratory work. Both summative and formative assessments are applied through written, oral, and practical quizzes, assignments and exams.

Post graduates programs: The MSc and PhD curricula are based on seminars, lectures, and clinical work of treating different malocclusions in children and adults.
I- MSc Program: Graduates of this program are certified as orthodontists with MSc degree in orthodontics.
- Program admission requirements:
1. Bachelor Degree of Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery (BDS) from one of the Egyptian universities or an equivalent degree from any other academic institution acknowledged by the Supreme Counsel of the Egyptian Universities.
2. At least three years of work experience after obtaining the BDS degree (including a year of general residency).
Admission opens in September each year.
The academic year extends from 1st of October till 30th of September.
Successful completion of the program is conditional upon completion of the following:
1- One academic year of basic science studies (anatomy, histology, oral pathology, physiology, microbiology, biostatistics,……..etc) assessed by summative written and oral exams.
2- Thesis based on original research study.
3- One publication extracted from the thesis in a journal listed by the permanent scientific committee.
4- A portfolio of requirements.
5- A clearance of absenteeism.
6- Final exams (Written, laboratory, clinical, and oral).
7- English as foreign language course (TOFEL, ILETS) and the computer course (ICDL) or equivalent courses according to the university guidelines.
8- Certain requirements may vary from year to year based on the university guidelines.

PhD Program:
- Program admission requirements:
Bachelor Degree of Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery (BDS) and MSC (Orthodontics) from one of the Egyptian universities or an equivalent degree from any other academic institution acknowledged by the Supreme Counsel of the Egyptian Universities.
Admission opens two times a year in March and September each year.
The academic year extends from 1st of October till 30th of September.
Successful completion of the program is conditional upon completion of the following:
1- Thesis based on innovative research study.
2- One publication extracted from the thesis in an international journal with reasonable IF.
3- A portfolio of requirements.
4- A clearance of absenteeism.
5- Final exams (Written, laboratory, clinical, and oral).
6- English as foreign language course (TOFEL, ILETS) and the computer course (ICDL) or equivalent courses according to the university guidelines.
7- Certain requirements may vary from year to year based on the university guidelines.
