Mansoura University participates in the workshop of the World Intellectual Property Organization
The Office of Intellectual Property and Patents at Mansoura University was represented by Dr. Amr Gabr, Director of the Office,
at a regional workshop for all Arab countries under the Patent Cooperation Treaty", organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Egyptian Patent Office and the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology.
The workshop included a number of topics such as: the role of patents in promoting creativity and innovation in Egypt and the Arab world; the role of the Patent Cooperation Treaty,PCT in economic development; how to use the PCT for technology transfer and the marketing of patents, its role in the knowledge-based economy and the future of intellectual property.
The workshop was attended by a number of Arab countries including: Egypt, Jordan, Oman, Algeria, Bahrain, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen and Sudan, as well as a delegation from the Gulf Patent Office and members of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The workshop was opened by Dr. Ali Al-Algeria, the advisor to the Arab countries and the Director of the Patent Cooperation Treaty of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Mr. Amr Abdel Aziz, Advisor to the Regional Office for the Arab States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Eng. Adel Aweida, head of the Egyptian Patent Office.
The representatives of the Arab countries presented the current status of WIPO's international patent filing under the Cooperation Treaty, as well as panel discussion on the most important challenges and success stories that impede patents and their marketing, and how to protect intellectual property for scientific research to give universities the opportunity to provide patents that serve society and industry.
